Trips and shopping

The information on events, tours, etc. are without guarantee. Some offers are seasonal, mostly from April to October. Detailed information on venues, dates and prices can be found on the internet or in the flyers. All activities are at your own risk.
We have put together only a selection, of course, there is much more to discover and experience. In the apartment in the living room you will find many flyers and information brochures and on Facebook there is something new every day on our Fanpage Fewo Nordseehund and in our group Fewo Nordseehund Freunde.
Please check with the organizers if your dog is allowed to come.

Let’s go: Friesland is waiting to be discovered by you, whether on foot, by bike or on paws – and if necessary also by car.

Das World Heritage Wadden Sea is at your doorstep and to start the holiday right, we recommend a walk around the Vareler harbor (Round about 2.5 km). Numerous restaurants invite to small or large breaks and more than half of the tour you can enjoy without car traffic.

If you are cycling, you should also start with a tour to the Varel harbor. From there, for example, you drive directly along the dike to the North Sea resort Dangast (about 10 km).

Dangast is best known for the Altes Kurhaus with its legendary rhubarb cake. The house is very hospitable: dogs and children are welcome and the private sandy Kurhaus beach with the most beautiful sunsets can be used by everyone for free, even without a leash!
But also the Meerwasserquellbad and the World Natural Heritage Portal you should visit.

Beautiful round tours, on foot or by bike, in all seasons, with and without a dog, are offered by the forests around Varel and in the Frisian Wehde. The Vareler city forest in your neighborhood is suitable for small courses and jogging rounds. Not ten minutes drive away you will find in Oberstrohe the forest Herrenneuen with a crystal clear lake. In Herrenneuen you can roam through all forest forms: coniferous forest, beech forest, mixed forest and small hills with heath and bickberry (small blueberry) are for eyes, feet, noses and paws pure relaxation. In Oberstrohe you will also find the Mühlenteich. The small pond is surrounded in a few minutes (about 1.0 km), the parking lot at the pond offers you the possibility as a starting point for more extensive tours.
Towards the northwest, in the Frisian Wehde there is the Neuenburger Urwald, of course, without lianas and wild animals, but with a lot of discovery potential, because the Urwald is only minimally maintained. The motto is: What falls remains. Only paths are cleared and there is a well signposted Knotenpunktsystem for pedestrians and cyclists

In Wilhelmshaven invites the only Südstrand on the North Sea coast for swimming, kitesurfing, sunbathing and ice cream. The Südstrand (South Beach) can be reached by car or by bike, a bike ride directly on the dike is long for average cyclists to create good (about 22 km one way) and cars encounter you on the route as good as none.
